Competitive play takes some getting used to that's for sure. There are plenty of battlers here to learn from though if you're really interested =] If the PokeSun showdown server is up (check the PokeSun League, then click the Showdown link that appears at the top above the threads) then you can find someone there to help you. If not then most if not all of the Gym Leaders are happy to give you a helping hand in starting to learn about it all.

It's definitely fun if you have the right community around you, such as this if I'm honest since everyone kinda helps everyone.

Those are tiers, @Trainer Lollipop . Every Pokemon is separated into a tier, and when playing in a tier, you have to use Pokemon in that tier or the tier(s) under it. The most common one is OU, or Overused. It's the standard tier where all the "Good" pokemon go. So all the Pokemon used most regularly are in this tier, excluding UBER pokemon, which are very strong Pokemon, too powerful for use in OU.

For more information I highly reccomend visiting Smogon.com

Did you want your mono flying team to be a specific tier or just pick the best flying type battles possible? Do you want legendaries on your team or no?
