So I recently bought the Solar Strike deck from the Plasma Blast expansion. I know I should make it better; for example, get rid of those extra Ducklett. Any suggestions?

You could replace some cards with catchers and maybe throw in some EX's.

Genesect and virizion indeed.

The thing about starter decks is that they have like, 25 pokes, 20 energy and 15 trainers.

A GOOD deck usually consists of about 15 pokes, 14 energy and 31 trainers(where at least 12 of them are supporters). Major difference there

You may think: "But hey! My main attacker is Blaziken, what if i meet a Blastoise?"
I don't care how much you love your two exeggutors, 1 shaymin is enough. This is called "teching" and is pretty vitel for decks with a clear disadvantage.

Anyways, tldr: change the poke-trainer-energy ratio, and try to be balanced without using too many other options. Stick to one or two main attackers.

And you could allways proxy some decks, i mean, pokemon isn't cheap.

^YES finally someone on this site that's competitive!

The basic competitive deck looks like this-

12ish Pokemon
10 Energy-More if it has a Energy Accelerator not named Dark Patch.
38 Trainers and Supporters

So I could go with a deck centered around the Blastoise that comes with Solar Strike?

Haha after looking through the deck, honestly, it will probably be a while before you can make this deck fully competitive. First off, a water/ fire combo is already a pretty terrible combo with the current metagame and to have Blastoise and Volcarona together isn't any better. Your best bet is to stick to one type. possibly Blastoise/Suicune since suicune does have Safeguard. Up the amount of Blastoise by at least 2 and same with Suicune. Playset of Squirtle and you can drop all the wartortle (or can keep one just in case) drop the Fire energy and add Water. the comment of Virizion-EX and Genesect-EX for this deck would not be a wise choice. I would probably go with Mewtwo-EX. Up the amount of Pokemon Catchers and Energy Retrievals. Def gonna want more Ultra ball. No Reversal Trigger since there wont be any Team Plasma Pokemon in your deck. Up the Juniper to 4, Caitlin to 4, Cheren to 3, Skyla to 3. Add playset of Rare Candy. Run playset of Hypnotoxic laser. That card is a must in nearly every deck. Blastoise would be your main attacker.

@TriXzeL the deck would look something like this:
Spoiler:
x3 Blastoise (have 1)
x3 Suicune (have 1)
x4 Squirtle (have all)
x1 Wartortle (have all)
x1 Mewtwo-EX
x3 Cheren (have all)
x3 Skyla
x4 Juniper (have all)
x4 Caitlin
x3 N (have 1)
x4 Rare Candy (have 1)
x4 Energy Retrieval (have all)
x4 Hypnotoxic Laser
x3 Ultra Ball (have 1)
x3 Pokémon Catcher (have 1)
x13 Water Energy (have all)
Total: 29/60

I need to check what I have. What I don't have is in the Trainer section.

EDIT: So I've counted what I have and don't have. The only big problem I see is with Suicune, Blastoise, and the Trainers.
