This is a simple guide to create a great in-game team that you can use as a base to create powerful in-game teams and/or use this guide to create competitive teams.

What you need is good base.

For in-game teams, you will pretty much need a Pokemon who can learn HM moves, the most often that are used are Surf and Fly.

Pokemon Team:
A Pokemon that can learn Surf
A Pokemon that can learn Fly
Free Choice
Free Choice
Free Choice
Free Choice

Depending on your region, the Pokemon you can use to fill those slots will differ. Good Pokemon that can learn Surf are Pokemon like Gyarados. A good Flying Pokemon you can use like one like Dragonite. Make sure you then get Pokemon on your team that cover your first two Pokemon's weaknesses!

Pokemon Team:
Gyarados
Dragonite

Now, we have two Flying Pokemon here, both weak to Rock, so we need a Grass-type to come in a pinch and take out those pesky Rock-types. Good Grass-types are Pokemon, are Pokemon like Roserade and Lilligant. We'll use Lilligant for this tutorial. She can blow through competition using a Quiver Dance/Petal Dance combination. Run it with Own Tempo as it's ability, and Lilligant can continue to use Petal Dance without experience fatigue and confusion.

Pokemon Team:
Gyarados
Dragonite
Lilligant

Okay, Lilligant, like all Grass-types is weak against Fire, but Gyarados, being a Water-type can take out those match-up problems. For our forth slot, we're going to use a free-choice. We're going to use Eelektross in this spot. It's an Electric type, but it has the ability Levitate, which removes it's weakness to Ground-types and gives it no weaknesses. Great for double-teaming with an Earthquake-using Dragonite or any Earthquake-using Pokemon.

Pokemon Team:
Gyarados
Dragonite
Lilligant
Eelektross

Slot 5, we're going to put in an enfeebler. Those are Pokemon that love to inflict status afflictions, like Poison, Sleep or Burn. Chandelure is a great Pokemon to use that method. It can learn moves like Will-O-Wisp which trigger burns and may also have the ability Flame Body, which gives a 30% chance of Burning the opponent if it receives any physical contact.

Pokemon Team:
Gyarados
Dragonite
Lilligant
Eelektross
Chandelure

Slot 6. Our final slot in the team. We're going to use this final spot for a free choice. We'll put Umbreon. One of the best Dark-types out there, you can run a couple different strategies with him.

Final Pokemon Team:
Gyarados
Dragonite
Lilligant
Eelektross
Chandelure
Umbreon

Okay, our team is complete. You can make your team however you want, but it's best to draft together a group that can seemlessly cover the others' weaknesses. Learn what Pokemon are weak to what types, and you should be tearing through the in-game competition!

Happy team building!
